Cloud Apps
Cancelling an app or a subscription
Cancel immediately or at the end of the term you have paid for. Both are self-service, and here is exactly what gets deleted.
You can cancel without asking anyone or waiting for approval. There are two options and they do different things.
At the end of the term
Your apps keep running until the date you have already paid through, and nothing renews after that. This is usually what you want — you have paid for the time, so you may as well use it.
You can change your mind at any point before that date and the cancellation is withdrawn.
Immediately
Everything is deleted straight away.
There is no refund for the remaining time, and this cannot be undone. Choose it only if you want the data gone now.
What is deleted, in both cases
When the cancellation takes effect:
- Every app in the subscription is destroyed, along with its containers.
- All application data and databases are deleted.
- All snapshots are deleted, including manual ones.
- The addresses stop working, and the subdomains are released for reuse.
There is no grace period after that point and no copy kept on our side. When it is gone, it is gone.
Before you cancel
If there is anything you want to keep, take it first:
- Files — use the Files tab over SFTP to copy anything you need.
- Databases — most apps have their own export. Use it rather than copying raw database files.
- Snapshots are not a backup you keep. They live on our infrastructure and are deleted with everything else. Download what matters instead.
Cancelling one app rather than everything
You do not need to cancel a subscription to remove a single app. Delete the app from its own page and the resources it was using return to your subscription for something else. Your billing does not change, because you are billed for the subscription rather than per app.
