Move your apps between regions — yourself

Where your apps run is now your call. From today, you can move a Cloud App subscription — and every app inside it — to a different region, straight from the panel: US East (Detroit), US West (Los Angeles) or EU (Amsterdam). No support ticket, no scheduled maintenance window negotiated over email. Pick the region, confirm, watch it happen.

Moving is free.

What actually happens

A move is not a fresh install somewhere else. For each app, we build its stack on a host in the new region first, briefly pause the app, transfer its data, verify everything came up healthy, and only then switch its traffic over — the original stays intact and serving until the copy is proven. Apps move one at a time, and each one pauses for typically a couple of minutes while its data crosses.

Everything that identifies your app carries over: its .cnpods.com address, custom domains (no DNS change on your side), SFTP logins, and every password and setting — including the database credentials we generated at deploy. When we tested this, we moved a five-service game-panel stack across the Atlantic in under two minutes, and the panel's own progress view narrated every step.

The rules

  • One move per subscription every 7 days.
  • The whole subscription moves together — every app in it, one at a time.
  • Apps must be running or stopped, and the subscription paid up.
  • A few apps whose domain is a permanent part of their identity — Matrix homeservers and similar — cannot be re-addressed by a move on a platform URL. The plan tells you up front; on your own custom domain they move fine.
  • Apps still on older host-style addresses come back at their shorter platform address — the confirmation screen shows the exact new address before you agree to anything.

It is a beta, and we say so

Every move keeps your original data intact until the copy is verified — a failed move rolls back to where you started. But this is new machinery moving real data between machines, so the panel asks you to confirm you have backups of anything you cannot lose before it will start: snapshot your apps, export your databases, pull irreplaceable files over SFTP. The full details, including the special cases, live in the knowledge base article.

Why this matters

Regions stop being a decision you are locked into at checkout. Start in Detroit, grow a European audience, move to Amsterdam next week — or the reverse. Your address never changes, so nothing you have shared, bookmarked or integrated breaks when the hardware underneath crosses an ocean.

Try it from the panel under Subscriptions → Change region. And if you want to tell us how it went, we just opened a community Discord — the link also lives in the panel header and the site footer.
