Self-hosted RSS readers: take back your feed from the algorithm
Somewhere along the way, "the internet I follow" got replaced by "the internet an algorithm thinks will keep me scrolling." RSS is the antidote: a chronological feed of exactly the sites, blogs and creators you chose, in full, with nothing injected and nothing hidden. Self-host the reader and that feed is entirely yours — synced across devices, no ads, no ranking, no company deciding what you see. Here are the two self-hosted RSS readers worth running.

The self-hosting reality
Both are light — a small app and a database — which makes them some of the easiest, lowest-maintenance things to self-host. You still need the app, a database, TLS and the occasional update, but as standing commitments go, an RSS reader is about as gentle as it gets.
