Dedicated addresses for Cloud Apps
A dedicated address is separate from the shared protected web hostname. Only use it when the app or your network requirements need it.
Choose an address
Open the subscription’s dedicated-IP options or the deployment form. Review availability, price, renewal term and location. A purchased address can constrain the app to a particular host or region.
Dedicated IPv6 availability depends on the location and host. Do not assume every deployment includes an IPv6 subnet or that any address inside a provider’s range belongs to your app.
Attach and verify
Select an eligible purchased address in the app’s networking options. Follow the resulting DNS instructions. Direct apps may use A/AAAA records rather than the shared CNAME target.
Test from a network that supports the chosen address family. An IPv6-only service cannot be reached directly by an IPv4-only client without another supported access path.
Release an address
Read the displayed release date and effect on connected apps. Update external DNS and integrations as required. Releasing an address does not automatically cancel the Cloud Apps subscription.
Use the values displayed for your service; never copy a test address, another customer’s address or an example address from these guides.
