Connect to App Storage files
App Storage uses the attached app's existing file access. It has no separate pool-level username, password or SSH-key editor.
Find the login
- Open Cloud Apps → My apps and select the attached app.
- Open Files.
- If access has not been created, select Set up SFTP access.
- Copy the displayed Host, Port and Username.
- Use Show password or Copy password when entering the password into your client.
The login belongs to the app. Do not use the Backup Storage username storage, a Backup Storage SSH key or your portal password. The current App Storage Files screen does not offer SSH-key rotation; Manage SSH keys applies to standalone Backup Storage accounts. Contact support if the app's file-access credentials need recovery or rotation.
FileZilla or WinSCP
Choose SFTP, enter the app's host and assigned port, then its displayed username and password. Verify the destination when reviewing the host-key prompt. Browse the folders listed by the client and follow the app's file-path notes.
Terminal SFTP
Replace the placeholders with the app's values. Enter its password at the prompt:
sftp -P APP_PORT APP_USERNAME@APP_HOST
At the SFTP prompt:
ls
cd /data
put ./example.txt
get example.txt ./downloaded-example.txt
bye
Use /music, /config or another displayed folder when appropriate. Uploading into a live app's folders changes the files it uses, so stop the app before replacing files that it actively writes.
rclone over SFTP
Create an SFTP remote with rclone config. Enter the app's host, port, username and password; let rclone handle password entry. Set disable_hashcheck = true and shell_type = none. Configure known_hosts_file with a verified server key if using rclone's built-in SSH connection.
For a remote called cnapp:
rclone copy ./uploads cnapp:/data/uploads --progress
rclone copy cnapp:/data/uploads ./downloaded-uploads --progress
Other tools and database data
Use SFTP clients or tools that operate over SFTP for the app's file folders. The standalone Backup Storage rsync/Borg/git-annex server commands are not app-file-access commands. Database volume directories are not exposed by SFTP; use the database controls or ask support for help with the specific database service.
