Database credentials, export and restore
Apps with a managed database show a Database section. Other apps may use embedded database files or their own import/export tools.
Connection information
The panel shows the engine, internal hostname, database name and username. Use Reveal for the password or connection string when necessary.
These databases are on the app’s private service network. The internal hostname is not a public database endpoint and generally will not connect directly from your laptop.
Export a database
- Open the app’s Database section.
- Select the export action and wait for the download.
- Save the export securely; it can contain personal information and application data.
- Back up persistent files separately, or use a full recovery snapshot.
Restore SQL
Keep a current export and snapshot before restoring. Changes made after the imported backup may be lost.
Use Restore SQL only with an export compatible with the app and database engine. Read the confirmation and wait for completion. Check the app’s logs, login and saved records afterward.
A PostgreSQL dump is not interchangeable with a MariaDB dump. Importing a database from a different application version may require that application’s migration procedure. Ask support before importing an unfamiliar backup into a live service.
