Files and SFTP

Open your app’s Files section. Available tools depend on the app and connection type.

Set up SFTP

  1. Use Set up SFTP access if credentials have not been created.
  2. Copy the host, port and username displayed for this app.
  3. Reveal the password when needed and enter it in an SFTP client.
  4. Choose the SFTP protocol, not FTP or FTPS.
  5. Connect and check the directory listing before uploading files.

Use the assigned port; do not assume port 22. Check any SSH host-key prompt against your intended destination. If an existing host key unexpectedly changes, investigate before accepting it.

Where files go

Primary persistent files are normally exposed at /data. Some recipes expose additional locations: Nginx can have /config, and Navidrome has a separate /music library. Follow that app’s notes. Managed database volumes are not exposed through SFTP; use the database tools.

Connection problems

Recheck the credentials and the app’s current connection mode. Public SFTP is not provided by an ordinary web-only Cloudflare Tunnel. Private-only apps may require private-network file access. A reachable website does not prove the SFTP port is reachable.

Download important files before replacing or deleting them. File changes can affect the live app immediately.
