Create, download and restore app snapshots

Open your app and select Snapshots. A recovery snapshot contains the persistent app stack described by the panel, including its managed database where applicable.

Create and download

  1. Choose Create snapshot and wait until the restore point is available.
  2. Check its timestamp and status.
  3. Use Download snapshot to keep a separate copy.
  4. Store the archive securely: it can contain passwords, application secrets and customer data.

Automatic snapshots

Where offered, select a daily or weekly schedule. The included automatic restore point rotates: a later scheduled snapshot replaces the previous one. It is not an unlimited history. Check the current limits and any paid add-on before relying on retention.

Restore

Current data is replaced

Restoring replaces the app’s current data and restarts it. Changes made since the chosen snapshot are lost. Download a current recovery copy before proceeding if possible.

Choose the correct snapshot, select its restore action and read the confirmation. Wait for completion, then check the app and its data. Avoid writes during a restore.

Deleting a snapshot is irreversible. A snapshot kept within a service is not a substitute for an independent backup before cancelling or deleting that service.

Back up a Cloud App automatically

Use the app’s Backup tab to send encrypted full backups to your storage account or an external SSH server. See Full app backups for setup, schedules, recovery keys and restore testing.
