Schedules, usage and billing
Schedule a job on your computer or server
First run the command manually and confirm an upload and download. The schedule runs on your device; it needs to be powered on, online and able to unlock the required credentials.
On Linux, a cron entry for a daily rsync job might be:
0 2 * * * /usr/bin/rsync -rt /home/alex/documents/ cn-backup:documents/ >> /home/alex/backup-transfer.log 2>&1
Replace the local username, source and rsync path. Install the entry with crontab -e as the user whose SSH configuration contains cn-backup. Check the log after the first scheduled run. For longer jobs, use your scheduler's “do not start another instance” option or a lock to prevent overlapping runs.
On Windows, use Task Scheduler with the actual executable, arguments and working directory. Select the account that owns the SSH key. For rsync inside WSL, run the command in the configured WSL environment. On macOS, use your preferred scheduler or launchd. Borg and restic jobs also need their repository passphrase available through the tool's supported secure configuration.
Read the usage panel
- Storage shows used space against the purchased capacity.
- Monthly transfer combines uploads and downloads for the current UTC calendar month.
- Files and directories counts filesystem entries against the account's file-count limit.
- Last sample tells you when the node last reported usage; the page normally refreshes within a minute.
The allowance is three times your storage size: 100 GB includes 300 GB transfer; 500 GB includes 1.5 TB. Transfer resets at 00:00 UTC on the first of each month. Repeated downloads, integrity checks that read remote data, and restores also consume transfer.
At the transfer allowance, access pauses until the next monthly window. There are no automatic overage charges. Contact support if you need more capacity or transfer; Backup Storage currently does not offer an in-page resize button. A full disk or file-count quota needs cleanup with the relevant tool or a capacity change.
Renewals and invoices
Open the account's Invoices section or Billing to view and pay invoices. The account shows its monthly price and Paid through date. Renewal invoices are normally issued seven days before renewal. Unpaid accounts pause after the configured grace period; the order summary shows the current timing.
Cancel or reverse cancellation
Under Cancellation, choose Cancel at end of term to stop the next renewal, or Cancel immediately to stop access now. Review and confirm the choice. A scheduled end-of-term cancellation can be withdrawn with Keep this storage account.
The confirmation shows when retained data will be removed. Download anything you need before that date. Cancellation and a refund are separate requests; contact support for a billing review.
