SSH and browser console
Open My servers, select your VPS and check its address and access details. The login user depends on the selected image; use the information supplied for your server.
Connect using SSH
From your computer’s terminal, replace the example values:
ssh your-user@your-server-ip
For a specific private key, use ssh -i /path/to/private-key your-user@your-server-ip. Verify a new host fingerprint against a trusted source before accepting it. Never upload your private key to a support ticket.
A timeout usually means the server, routing or firewall is blocking access. A permission error usually means the username, password or key is incorrect.
Browser console
Use Console from the server page when SSH is unavailable. It provides another route to the guest’s login screen; you still need valid guest credentials. Check network settings and firewall rules there before making more changes remotely.
Password and keys
Use the available access controls to reset a password when necessary. A reset replaces the old password. Adding a key to your account does not mean every existing server has installed it: check the server’s supported key controls or install its public key inside the guest.
Do not reinstall to fix a forgotten password without considering recovery first: reinstalling erases the server’s disk.
